New tech and creativity for playful and engaging solutions.

PipeLink

PipeLink applies substances onto the skin in an unprecedented approach, by combining an elastic adhesive tape with a flexible 3D printed tube. The tube, which is directly printed into the fabric, allows a targeted dissemination of liquids and aerosols through tiny perforations – additionally, the elastic tube stabilizes the skin and muscles without causing discomfort for users. The potential is immense since the device is highly versatile: the applications could range from intensive medical care to cosmetic or fitness applications. By adopting a playful and visually pleasing design, PipeLink manages, with a personalized touch, to combine effectively digital fabrication with off-the-shelf products.

PipeLink

Our approach is to interlink sustainability and human-centered design with digital fabrication.

The fact that the device is constantly attached to the skin makes it highly versatile for administering a wide range of substances. For example, in a medical context, the uses could be: medication delivery; personalized wound care; stress relief on the skin, and even keeping medical instruments in place. The fact that PipeLink is flexible makes it perfect for a strong support during movements on every body part. PipeLink could also be used for non-medical purposes, for example in order to apply cosmetics, or support muscles during physiotherapy. We intentionally used a bold design aesthetic in order to distance it from dull medical devices – PipeLink could even be seen as a fashion statement.
